WHY MODULAR?

The traditional method of construction has been the accepted norm for a long time. By its very definition, the word traditional means conventional, customary and established.

Modular construction, on the other hand, revolutionizes everything, from cutting time to changing attitudes.

Both traditional and modular construction begins in the same way. Planning, design, approvals, site preparation are all required. But from this point onwards, everything changes. With modular, as the foundations are being laid on site, construction of the building is already taking place in a factory by skilled tradesmen, including interior and exterior finishes, electrics, plumbing, and flooring before the building is delivered to the site. The building is then transported, fixed in place and the keys handed over.

BENEFITS

Time

On average, a modular building is constructed 50% quicker than one using the traditional method, resulting in an earlier return on investment.

Budget

Modular buildings can be more affordable than site-built buildings. Shorter build time tends to mean significant cost savings. Also, there are no dead-spots in the process of waiting for materials.

Weather

As the major parts of construction are carried out in a factory, modular builds don’t run the risk of being rained off.

Health, safety, and quality

Factory conditions allow for far greater control and improvement of all three compared with the traditional building site.

Environmentally friendly

Modular builds are more energy-efficient, create less waste and increase the use of sustainable materials. There is also a reduction in the carbon footprint of the build as fewer people are traveling to and from the site.

Community friendly

Traditional builds generally create more noise, traffic, mess, and disruption.

Adaptable

Modular buildings can be easily expanded, relocated or reused.

JOHN HANNAN

With 2 decades of experience in the construction industry under his belt, as well as being a 4th generation builder, John has had an amazing career.

His trade background as a carpenter gave him the foundation to achieve great success within the construction industry. From having his own construction company delivering high-end developments, commercial experience coordinating contracts in the hospitality/retail sector to for filling health care contracts for refitting of hospitals.

For the past 7 years, John’s specialty was developing and delivering solutions for complex and remote construction projects leading him to become an expert in this field, working alongside the Department of Border Protection and other government departments as well as the private sector to achieve solutions for increasingly difficult builds. With a list of completed projects spanning 3 continents, John’s return to Australia has brought a fresh and inspiring look to the industry of converted shipping containers and modular projects. Pushing the boundaries of what you expect to see in a container is a passion of John’s as no ask is too big. Forever dedicating time to research and development of new products to invoke change in a developing market.

“While traditional building practices will always be in place, modular is the way of the future.”
